Gallery Sitting Calendar

Requirements for your Exhibition:

Marketing & Ads: due before the 10th of each month prior to your show
Fill out the Exhibition Upload form completely before the last week before your show
Monthly Catalog:
Artwork Drop-off: Fill out Inventory form with all new artwork going to the gallery
Know your responsibilities as the exhibiting artist

1. Catalogues: 1 catalog produced for each month's exhibition showcasing the 3 artists

The Exhibition Catalogue is produced generally for documentation purpose - therefore it is not required to be finished at the time of your art opening.

The catalog can only be completed and ordered once all 3 exhibiting artists have submitted ALL images, titles, sizes, prices & artist statements to the Catalogue Team (via the Wufoo upload form).

Image format:   label as "Last name_title" (example: "Smith_LegOfLamb.jpg")

Image format:   file size should be 250-300 dpi, 1920 pixels max on either side, & less than 1MB

      - Marketing / Advertising:

                 DUE three (3) weeks prior to your show

     - Website Updates:

                 DUE one (1) week before your show:   need title for your show, and 3 new artwork images,

                                 (Fill out exhibition form completely if you have all the necessary information being requested)

3. New Inventory: for Artwork of the current exhibiting artists

Drop-Off: All new exhibition artwork should be delivered and installed at the gallery either Monday or

                Tuesday. Tuesday night at the latest.

                    >> FYI: gallery may be in-use & unavailable for install on Monday nights

               Artwork inventory sheet :: fill out for all new artwork being delivered to the gallery

Pickup: All exhibition artwork needs to be taken down and removed from the gallery by the last

              SUNDAY night of the month.

              !!   All wall repairs need to be completed by Sunday night as well. That means YOU need to fill

                   all nail holes and spackle the wall smooth.

4. Your Exhibition Responsibilities:

Artist Members are required to

install your own show. This includes:

providing your own hardware for hanging your work

using the gallery's white numbered pins for labeling your work (found at Metskers Maps)

Optional: labeling your gallery wall with your name using black lettering - find lettering online here, or at office supply store

Optional: post your artist statement on the wall during your exhibition

uninstall your show & prepare your gallery space for the next incoming artist. This includes:

filling nail holes and the walls smooth again.

provide a price list for artwork (at least 3 copies) & inventory sheet

send out your own individual press release (if you desire one - See Marketing)

Press Releases: member artists are responsible for sending out their own individual press releases

An example of how to format your press release here.
- have short paragraphs for easy reading
- factual info at beginning should be made easy to read at a glance
- always refer to yourself in the third person
- The first paragraph should summarize the event
- The second paragraph points out the important aspects of your work and may be condensed from your artist's statement
- A Microsoft Word template to get you started here.

Make sure you include with your press release:

    - show information, along with a link to your website

    - 3-4 current artwork images (keep file sizes very reasonable)

Please check out the online Yahoo! calendar each month - there are open dates that will need to be filled.

           (*Remember: Each member commits to gallery-sitting at least seven days per year. Members

              unable to sit must provide a substitute, or pay an additional $60 per month)

Reminder of membership responsibilities

*   You are committed to one year of membership. No exceptions.

*   All members pay a nonrefundable $50 fee at the time of joining. Monthly membership fees range from $38 - $88 depending on which gallery room members choose to exhibit in, as well as the payment plan you choose to participate in.

*   Each member commits to gallery-sitting from 10:30am - 5:00pm at least seven days per year. Members unable to sit must provide a substitute, or pay an additional $60 per month. Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday. If you miss your scheduled sitting appointment without finding a replacement, you may be fined $60 to reimburse the gallery for time spent filling in on your behalf.

*   Members are required to attend monthly meetings. This time will be used to discuss gallery issues, concerns and projects. If you miss a meeting, you are responsible for reading meeting minutes, which are e-mailed. Monthly meetings are held at the gallery on the first Monday AFTER 1st Thursday Artwalk at 7pm.

*   Each member is required to join at least one Work Group. These groups focus on such things as exhibition catalogues, marketing/advertising and events.
